Gene Chizik's departure - harmful and disappointing

Charles Goldberg of the Birmingham News reports....

Gene Chizik will make approximately $2 million a year as Auburn's new football coach, according to someone familiar with his contract. The length of the contract is either five or six years.

Chizik just completed the second year of a six-year contract at Iowa State that paid him approximately $1,100,000 this season. He had a $750,000 buyout.

Tommy Tuberville, who resigned from Auburn on Dec. 3, made $2.8 million in his final year with the Tigers. He received a $5.1 million buyout when he resigned.

Iowa State Athletics Director Jamie Pollard said the timing of Chizik's departure was ``harmful and disappointing.''

What do you think? Will this change the focus for football players?
